Crooked Lake Property ' Ready to Build

When Carl and Ruth Shorter started Grandpa Shorter's Gifts in 1946, the family lived in a victorian home in downtown Petoskey. Their three boys loved the serene call of the water and they made numerous trips to the south shore of Crooked Lake to hunt, fish and camp. In 1965, the Shorter family moved to Crooked Lake and Carl and Ruth platted the Sylvan Shores sub-division as a place for family members to reside. Carl and Ruth loved having their children and grandchildren close by. At one time there were six homes all occupied by relatives. The last time a building site was available was in the 1980s. Carl and Ruth's heirs are offering the last available lake-front building site on Cove Rd and Driftwood Drive.
